his blasts, the closer the Traveler wrapped his cloak around him,
until at last, resigning all hope of victory, the Wind called
upon the Sun to see what he could do.  The Sun suddenly shone out
with all his warmth.  The Traveler no sooner felt his genial rays
than he took off one garment after another, and at last, fairly
overcome with heat, undressed and bathed in a stream that lay in

traveller came along wrapped in a warm cloak. They agreed that the one =

Then the North Wind blew as hard as he could, but the more he blew the =

closely did the traveller fold his cloak around him; and at last the =

Wind gave up the attempt.=20

Then the Sun shone out warmly, and immediately the traveller took off his
cloak. And so the North Wind was obliged to confess that the sun was the
stronger of the two.=20

And here's another version, I'm not sure where I got it:

        Once upon a time, North Wind and Sun were having an argument
        about which one was the stronger.  Just at that time, a person
        wearing a long coat came by.  The two agreed that whichever
        one was able to make the person take off his coat first was
        the strongest.

        North Wind then used his strength to blow very hard.  The
        harder he blew, the harder the person pulled his coat around
        his body.  North Wind finally saw that he couldn't do it, so
        he stopped trying.  Then Sun came out and made it really warm,
        so that the person immediately took his coat off.  North Wind
        was forced to admit that Sun was stronger than he was.
