I don't watch The Simpsons, but my nephew is a big fan. Knowing my love of words, he related to me an episode in which the Simpsons were playing Scrabble. After placing a nonsense word on the board and being faced with challenges from the rest of the family, Homer commented "It's a perfectly cromulent word." Obviously, the joke was that he was using a word he made up to support the validity of his use of another word he had made up. [I may have gotten that all wrong as it is second-hand, but you get the gist of it] Apparently, "cromulent" is now used as a Simpsons reference/joke. Stay curious, David David E.
