I've studied a bit the lyrics with a Kobaian dictionary I had found on the web (don't know the address anymore) and I can say I agree with you. Kobaian is simply nonsense words added by whim (but kept the way they are as soon as they have been added first) to replace French words. But the grammar stays French, or rather "Pig French", a simplified French grammar. It's easy to see as Kobaian words have often a single French correspondent and make exactly the same lexical distinctions as French does. So it's basically a dumbed-down relex of French. It doesn't make it any less nice to hear, but I don't think it can be considered to be a full-fledged conlang. Christophe. http://rainbow.conlang.free.fr It takes a straight mind to create a twisted conlang.
