thanks. i think i've posted on the form of the writing before, but i'll reiterate. i think of the writing as an alphabet, but it's really an abugida : each consonant sign has an inherent |a| vowel. if it's written with another vowel following, the |a| is cancelled. if it's attached to another consonant, the |a| is also cancelled. this means that the number of syllables can be judged by the number of breaks in the text, but a string of signs doesn't correspond to a syllable ( but rather to a string of consonants followed by a vowel ). a final consonant is marked as not having a following vowel but a small stroke ( ~= visarga ). initial vowels take a small carrier letter. in informal writing this is left out on the vowels that have distinctive signs ( |e i o u| ) but is necessary for |a| verbs are marked by enclosing the first letter in what look like parentheses. i romanise this as capitalisation. the alphabetic form used for the font does away with the carrier and the visarga, and introduces a sign for |a| the consonant forms are based on roman letter forms, but highly stylised. the vowels are arbitrary bn ===== bnathyuw | landan | arR stamp the sunshine out | angelfish your tears came like anaesthesia | phèdre __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
