Re: I'm giving a lecture on Tolkien's languages

Hello,

That's great news :-)

I'd personally rant more on what he wrote in 'A Secret Vice' and the several
quotes in 'Letters' about LotR being an essay in linguistic aesthetic, and
then speak about how Quenya and Sindarin were important to Tolkien in two
aspects, historical, and writing poetry. Do you have 'The Monsters and the
Critics'? Otherwise, I could post some relevant excerpts for you to ponder
from 'A Secret Vice' and 'English and Welsh'.

That's it, in short. Perhaps you could go and ask the people on TolkLang?
(or ElfLing)

I can rant on about Tolkien's languages for ages, so I'll stop here :-) Feel
free to ask, though.

Pavel, who, writing his own infamous report has found some common notions in
Tolkien on languages, Humboldt and Jewish mysticism :-)
