Yes. La cannot be followed by a stressed /a/. Apparently, this goes back to the Old Spanish form of the article, _ela_, where the _a_ became dropped before stressed _a_. At least, that's the explanation I've read. -- "I can't remember to forget" ICQ: 18656696 AIM Screen-Name: NikTaylor42
