The Kash system (I'm not quite sure how to account for their longer year (16
months, 464 days =489 our days) but I assume they pack more material into a
year than we do; nor exactly sure at what rate they mature, but anyway--)

Kash age = Earth age
age 4 = ~5 lakon inji ('young school') essentially kindergarten-- creative
play, socialization; intro to alphabet, numbers
Schedule: 4 3mo. terms with 1mo between; only 3 terms required, so somewhere
the kid gets a 4mo vacation.

age 5-7 = 6.5-9 lakongasi ('beginning school') grades 1-3
Schedule: 4-1-4-1-4-2 all terms required

age 8-10  = 10.4-~13 lakongure ("low" school), grades 4-6, same schedule

age 11-13 = 14-~17 lakonandru ("high" school) grades 7-9, same schedule; one
may leave after grade 9 but it's not a good idea....

hendekan (~"college") same schedule
age 14 = ~18, grade 10-- comparable to advanced HS here perhaps
age 15 = 19.5 grade 11-- the final year for many; maybe comparable to
finishing US Junior College, but better
age 16 = 21 grade 12 an optional year for the quite bright, possibly
independent study; or preparatory to "univ." study.  If one elects to quit
here, the certif. is approx. = to an American BA
Schooling is free up to this point, and state run.
There are private schools for the bright and the wealthy.

hendekan landru ("high college") equiv. of graduate study-- schedule 6-2-6-2
with short breaks during the 6mo terms.  Entrance is by competitive exam;
not many go on to this level.
age 17 = 22 }
age 18 = ~23} by the end of these two years you will have the equiv. of a
Master's  Degree (US usage)
age 19 and up = 24 up, indeterminate amount of time in pursuit of the
_akangaya_ = doctorate.
Hendekan landru is generally free; though children of the nobility and
wealthy (if they qualify) are expected to pay something...
