Play the *junctions-game!

In previous posts I've discussed "junctions", which is words that
connect phrases or clauses, aka. conjunctions, subordinators and
conjunctive adverbs. First I looked at junctions of condition, like if,
then junctions of time, like while. Doing them one by one this way is
a bit slow so I thought of the following way to speed up the process:

Below I'll give several lines of more or less synonymous junctions. Your
task, should you accept it, is one or more of the following:
* to come up with more synonyms
* to attempt to combine lines (aka. "these mean roughly the same as those!")
* to come up with a name and description for a line.
* to come up with reasons why a synonym does or does not belong in a line
* to come up with a minimum set of words per line: do we really need
  both "however" and "although"?

We're after junctions, so make sure the synonyms can be used in the
context "X junction Y" or "junction X Y" or other possibilities, where
X and Y are both clauses (sentences).

I'll start with an example line, with a name already:

Adversatives: but, however, nevertheless, although, even so, still, yet

Ready? (Remember that a word can mean more than one thing!)

1) anyway, anyhow, at any rate, in any case, in any event
2) as a result, consequently
3) besides, also, as well, in any case, likewise, too
4) furthermore, in addition, also
5) hence, therefore, thus
6) indeed, so, and so, and then
7) instead, alternatively, as an alternative, or else, rather
8) in the meantime, meanwhile
9) moreover, what is more

This should be plenty to get us started. And... go!
