And to think, I was told a while ago that someone from Toronto putting the second T in it would be like someone from Cairns [k_hE:_~nz] (city in Qld, Australia) pronouncing it /kA:nz/ (although I've never heard anyone use the latter, so I think the analogy is slightly broken).

The [4] is an alveolar tap, `fish hook "r"'. The ~ signifies nasalisation on the previous sound. If you want more, search google for 'X-Sampa'. Either the first or the second link is a link to the X-Sampa wepage where you can find out about X-Sampa in more depth. Tristan
