OT: baloney and cheese

This description is just too vague to go on: it could describe bologna, except for the detail that bologna is not German. There are hundreds (thousands?) of sausages in the world, and Germany surely has more than its share of them. I suppose Swiss people think it's bizarre that Americans insist on calling Emmenthaler (or our imitation thereof) "Swiss", as if there were no other cheeses from Switzerland.
